Planning the Perfect Pre-Wedding Celebration in Ireland

Your wedding day may be the main event, but the celebrations don't have to begin when you walk down the aisle.

More and more couples are choosing to arrive at their wedding venue the day before, turning their celebration into a relaxed and memorable wedding weekend. It's an opportunity to slow down, spend quality time with your closest family and friends, and settle into the excitement before the big day.

At Boyne Hill House, we've seen how special these moments can be. Often, they're the ones couples remember just as fondly as the wedding itself.

Why Celebrate the Day Before?

The day before your wedding is a chance to leave the planning behind and simply enjoy being together.

Instead of rushing between home, hotels and suppliers on the morning of your wedding, arriving at your venue early allows you to settle in, familiarise yourself with the estate and spend time with the people who have travelled to celebrate with you.

It sets the tone for a relaxed, enjoyable wedding weekend.

A Warm Welcome for Your Guests

Whether your loved ones are travelling from nearby or further afield, arriving the day before gives everyone time to relax and settle in.

It's an opportunity to enjoy an informal evening together, introduce family and friends, and soak up the excitement before the celebrations begin. There's no strict itinerary—just good food, great conversation and the joy of having everyone together in one place.

Make the Most of the Estate

One of the best parts of arriving early is having time to experience the estate beyond the wedding day itself.

Take a stroll through the gardens, explore the woodland walks or simply enjoy a quiet coffee in one of the Manor House's elegant reception rooms. With 38 acres of gardens and parkland to discover, there's plenty of space to unwind before the celebrations begin.

Unwind in the Woodland Soak & Sauna

If you're looking for a little relaxation before the big day, our Woodland Soak & Sauna is the perfect place to escape.

Nestled among the trees, this private wellness space offers a peaceful setting where you and your guests can enjoy the outdoor hot tub and sauna, surrounded by nature. It's the perfect way to ease any pre-wedding nerves, catch up with loved ones or simply enjoy a quiet moment before your wedding day arrives.

Many couples make it part of their wedding weekend, creating memories long before they say "I do".

Enjoy an Informal Evening Together

Every couple celebrates differently, and that's exactly how it should be.

Some choose a relaxed dinner with their nearest and dearest, while others gather for casual drinks, lawn games or an evening spent sharing stories and laughter. The day before your wedding doesn't need to be elaborate—it simply gives everyone the chance to enjoy being together.

Wake Up Where It All Happens

There's something incredibly special about waking up at your wedding venue.

Instead of travelling on the morning of your wedding, you can enjoy a slow start to the day, surrounded by the people who mean the most to you. Spend the morning getting ready in The Nest and our dedicated Beauty Room, knowing everything you need is right here.

It's a calm, relaxed beginning to one of the most memorable days of your life.

Planning Your Wedding Weekend

If you're hoping to extend your celebrations, it's worth planning ahead.

Pre- and post-wedding accommodation is subject to availability, particularly for weddings taking place between Friday and Sunday. As these dates are in high demand, additional weekend nights cannot be provisionally reserved and can only be confirmed within three months of your wedding date, subject to availability.

For couples who would like to enjoy a full wedding weekend with greater flexibility, we recommend choosing a Monday to Wednesday wedding. Additional nights before and after your celebration are generally available throughout the year, making it easier to create a relaxed multi-day experience with your family and friends.

The Perfect Start to Your Wedding Story

Some of the most memorable moments of your wedding happen before the ceremony even begins.

The laughter over dinner, the quiet walk around the estate, time spent in the Woodland Soak & Sauna, and the excitement of waking up knowing your wedding day has arrived all become part of your story.

At Boyne Hill House, your wedding is never just one day. It's a chance to gather your favourite people, slow down and enjoy every moment together in the heart of the Irish countryside.
