Start With Your Wedding Venue

Before deciding on flowers, signage, candles and installations, take another look at the venue you’ve chosen.

What made you fall in love with it in the first place?

Perhaps it was the gardens, the character of the house, the ceremony setting or simply the feeling you got when you first walked through the doors.

When your wedding venue already has its own personality, your décor doesn’t have to completely transform the space.

Choose a Few Statement Moments

Rather than trying to decorate absolutely everywhere, think about the areas your guests will experience most.

Your ceremony is an obvious place to create something special. A beautiful floral arrangement or simple styling around the ceremony space can frame the moment without overwhelming it.

Your dining tables are another area worth giving some attention. Flowers, candles, linen and stationery can completely set the mood for dinner.

Then perhaps choose one or two additional moments — your welcome sign, table plan, cake display or entrance.

You don't need ten statement pieces.

A handful of beautifully considered details can have far more impact.

Let Your Flowers Work Twice

One of our favourite pieces of advice is to think about how your wedding flowers can move with you throughout the day.

Could your ceremony arrangements be relocated to your reception?

Could bridesmaid bouquets become part of the evening décor?

Could an arrangement from your welcome area be moved somewhere guests will enjoy it later?

Speak to your florist and venue team about what can realistically be reused. Not only can this make your wedding budget work harder, it also means you get to enjoy those beautiful arrangements for longer.

Candles Can Completely Change a Space

Never underestimate candlelight.

If you love a romantic, intimate atmosphere, candles can be one of the simplest ways to make a room feel incredibly special without filling every corner with flowers.

As daylight begins to fade and everyone settles in for dinner, that warm candlelight can completely change the feeling of a room.

Sometimes simple really is beautiful.

Don't Decorate for the Sake of Decorating

Wedding planning comes with an extraordinary number of things you could have.

Welcome signs. Flower arches. Neon signs. Chair décor. Aisle arrangements. Hanging installations. Personalised menus. Champagne walls. Photo backdrops.

Your ceremony, drinks reception and dinner will naturally feature heavily in your wedding photographs, so those spaces may be worth prioritising.
