But there’s something else that’s much harder to put on a spreadsheet: how you feel when you arrive.

Sometimes couples walk into a venue and simply know.

Ask where your ceremony would move if the weather changed. Find out where guests would have drinks and photographs. Look at the indoor spaces with the same attention you give the gardens.

Your Plan B shouldn’t feel like second best.

A great wedding venue should still give you a beautiful day regardless of what the Irish weather decides to do.

4. Pay Attention to How You're Treated

This one is incredibly important — and surprisingly easy to overlook when you're distracted by beautiful rooms and gardens.

The people showing you around may become part of one of the biggest days of your life.

Do you feel comfortable asking questions?

Are they interested in what you want?

Do they explain things clearly?

Do you feel rushed, or do you feel looked after?

Two wedding packages can look similarly priced on paper and include very different things.

This might be our favourite piece of advice.

When the viewing is finished, don't immediately jump into the car and rush off to the next appointment.

Take five minutes.

Walk back through the grounds. Look at the house again. Stand somewhere quiet together and imagine the day.

Then ask each other one simple question:

Can we see ourselves getting married here?

Not whether the venue ticks 47 boxes on a spreadsheet.

Not whether you've seen something similar on Instagram.

Can you actually picture your wedding here?

Because when you've found the right venue, very often that's the question that matters most.

One Last Thing…

You don't necessarily need to view ten wedding venues.

Sometimes seeing too many makes the decision harder rather than easier.

Do your research, choose a handful that genuinely suit the wedding you're imagining and go to each viewing with an open mind.
